The WinTech Intelligent Wind Turbine Controller has 2 functions To keep the wind turbine safe under all conditionsTo record the performance of the turbine The WinTech Intelligent Wind Turbine Controller receives signals from the WinTech Dog Vane and WinTech Anemometer to turn the turbine into the wind. The controller continually measures the power production and as necessary furls (turns) the turbine from the wind to control power production within safe limits in high wind speeds Complete Wind Turbine Safety The WinTech Intelligent Wind Turbine Controller keeps the turbine completely safe under all operating conditions. If a fault situation is detected in either the turbine, the operating systems of the controller (including the dog vane and anemometer) or the grid then the controller will initiate a program to safely stop the turbine. How The WinTech Intelligent Wind Turbine Controller Works Under normal operating conditions the WinTech Intelligent Wind Turbine Controller measures Wind SpeedVoltageCurrentThe temperature of the windings (*)RPMAmbient temperatureIf any of these measures (except ambient temperature) are outside predetermined limits then the controller will either yaw the turbine from the wind to reduce power production or it will safely bring it to a stop The critical measure points as detailed above are all set for WinTech turbines but can all be programmed according to the operating specification of other turbines The controller can also operate an electric brake if this is fitted to the turbine. (*) The temperature measurement is optional and the controller will function without problem if there is no temperature sensor fitted within the windings of the generator The controller also measures wind direction relative to the position of the head of the turbine and positions the turbine directly into the wind. As necessary with shifts in the wind direction or due to excess power production the controller will move the head of the turbine either to track the wind or to yaw to limit power production Data Recording By The WinTech Intelligent Wind Turbine Controller In addition to keeping the power production safe within predetermined limits the Controller also records and displays power production on a day to day basiswith a reset option However, the controller is far more advanced and innovative than a simple recording and display of current data. When the reset button is operated the controller writes all data in the current set to non volatile memory for subsequent analysis storing data for 14 months. In parallel with this the controller maintains a key event log Analysis of the data stored by the controller then makes it possible to optimise the turbine for the specific wind conditions of any individual site Grid Failure -No Problem Many wind turbine controllers are not able to handle the power surge which occurs in the circumstances of grid failure at maximum generation power. The WinTech Intelligent Wind Turbine Controller is designed so that grid failure is no problem under all operating conditions and the turbine remains completely safe Complete Wind Turbine Safety The WinTech Intelligent Wind Turbine Controller keeps the turbine completely safe under all operating conditions.
