Subsequent removal of the slurry is by "suction" through a pipe situated near the surface of the sediment. The slurry can be transported to the final disposal site via a pipeline. The type of equipment selected for suction dredging will depend upon things such as water depth,sediment depth and sedimentphysical properties,quantities of dredge material and location and method of disposal.
