V-Cone Flow Meter V-Cone Flow Meter is an innovative differential pressure measuring device. It can disturb the flow through a V cone hanging in the pipeline center. Liquid are then forced to center around the center line of the pipeline and to flow around the cone. Compared with traditional throttle device, this geometry has many advantages, for example, the contoured flow straightening device. V-Cone Flow Meter Applications V-cone flow meter can measure liquid, gas and steam (coke oven gas, flue gas, propylene gas, natural gas, hydrogen, nitrogen, organic gases, air, steam, fuel oil gas, liquefied petroleum gas, ammonia, slurry, hydrogen peroxide , multiphase fluid, recycled water). The conditions of the liquid can be from deep hypothermia to supercritical state. Temperature can be up to 700 °C, the maximum pressure can be 40MPa. Temperature and pressure can be even higher if special material is used. Measurable maximum number of Reynolds is 500 million, minimum number of Reynolds number is 8000 or even lower. Generated full scale differential pressure signal is from the lowest 0.1KPa to the highest dozens of KPa. Features V-Cone Flow Meter's self-cleaning Fluid flow in the pipeline, due to wall friction, is at the slowest flow rate on the sidewall. The dirt particles in the fluid will deposited in the sidewall easily. When the fluid is close to the V-cone, the flow slows down in the central pipe, speed up near the sidewall, and finally bypass the V-cone. Coupled with no fouling dead spot, impurities will not deposited near the cone. This kind of blow-thru type determines that in the measurement of Coke-oven gas, easily bonded impurities, such as mineral oil (Naphtha), ammonium hydrate (Ammonium hydrate) and tar (Tar), will not be glued to the V-cone nearby. This is the V-Cone Flow Meter self-cleaning function. No strict requirements of straight pipe. The characteristics of the traditional differential pressure meter flow based on ideal flow state, in fact, in real applications, this situation does not exist. Any changes of piping arrangement, such as elbows, valves, reducing diameter, expanding diameter, pumps, 3-way junction, etc., will undermine the full development of the flow. General flow meter is difficult to make measurement in disturbed flow. V-cone flow meter overcomes these shortcomings; in fact, the cone itself re-arranged velocity distribution of upstream. Suitable for measuring wet gas In the measurement with media of gas with liquid (no more than 10%) conducted by other types of differential pressure flow meter, the liquid phase have a large jitter in negative pressure zone, causing a large negative pressure fluctuations. While V-cone flow meter is not the case. Liquid phase will not have a large jitter in the downstream of throttling device because it flows along the sidewall of V-Cone, so as to ensure gas-liquid two-phase media measurement accuracy. Relatively small head loss Since there is no sharp beta edge, the head loss caused by V-Cone Flow Meter is constant, smaller than orifice plate. Because back pressure of the V-cone flow meter is stable, the differential pressure of 2-3KPa is sufficient in normal case, while the orifice plate requires 16KPa above. The recommended maximum differential pressure of V-Cone is 4-10KPa. Factory calibration Before V-Cone Flow Meter’s delivery, water flow device is calibrated with reference to calibration regulations of the speed flow meter, calibration test report is provided along with user manual, and amendments to reflect the results of calibration are also prepared.
