It is a greenish-yellow crystalline powder, slightly hygroscopic. With better water-solubility than that of rutin, Troxerutin is more easily absorbed and has a stronger therapeutic efficacy. It is best suited for the treatment of the prevaricose and varicose syndromes, trombophlebitis, post-phlebitic conditions, chronic venous deficiency, and hemorrhoids.
