Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water treatment method that uses a semipermeable membrane to remove dissolved salts from water. In the process of cleaning water under pressure is supplied to the roll membrane element. As a result of passing through the membrane of the water (permeate) is freed from dissolved salts, the other part (the concentrate) carries dissolved contaminants, is subject to discharge or disposal.
Osmosis is a natural process in the human body. If two saline solution separated by a semipermeable membrane, water from less concentrated solution passes into a more concentrated solution, to establish equilibrium. The pressure created by this flow of water is called osmotic pressure.
Reverse osmosis is, in essence, is a reverse process. Under pressure in excess of osmotic, water from the more concentrated solution into the less concentrated one. Thus, the process of cleaning.
The largest and most important application of reverse osmosis is to obtain desalinated water from seawater or brackish water using reverse osmosis.
Reverse osmosis system consists of several parts:
block cartridge pre-purification. Allows you to remove insoluble impurities in the water to prevent their deposition on the membrane surface;
- boost pump. Is used to create the reverse osmosis pressure, depending on the design and purpose of the reverse osmosis system creates a pressure of several bar to several tens bar;
block membrane cleaning. Is a set of reverse osmosis membranes that are installed in special housings designed to separate the flows of fresh and salt water;
block control and automation. Designed to control a reverse osmosis system using a programmable controller, as well as La visual inspection of the process of reverse osmosis. This unit consists of a control Cabinet, flow meters, pressure gauges, solenoid valves and regulating valves;
unit dosing of reagents. To reduce the risk of deposition of solid mineral deposits, in front of the reverse osmosis membranes dosed antiskalanta. This chemical controls the deposition of hardness salts on the membranes, providing an extension of their service;
block CIP cleaning. This unit consists of a container of the preparation of washing solutions, as well as from a pump, flowmeter, filter and valves. It is intended to conduct chemical cleaning of the reverse osmosis system, removing from the surface membranes of organic and inorganic deposits. In addition, this unit is used for preservation of setup, during its shutdown.
Reverse osmosis equipment is widely used in almost all industries for produce high-quality demineralised water, which can be used in many industrial processes.
