Appropriate power filters could facilitate meeting the EMC requirements for electronic facilities, measuring instruments, switching power supplies, computers and the like. Power filters are low-pass filters consisting of capacitors and inductors. In accordance with Clause CE102, GJB151A-97, the filtering frequency ranges from 0.01MHz to 30MHz. 2. The power filters, noise source and load impedance should follow the impedance-mismatch principle. The internal impedance of noise source is low, then the input impedance of the EMI filters connected to it should be high. Likewise, if the noise source internal impedance is high, then the input impedance of the EMI filters connected to it should be low. 3. The user should decide the filter parameters according to the voltage, current, and the insertion loss needed, and specify the requirements on leakage current, overall dimension, installation method as well as the leading out method. The filter insertion loss is greatly influenced by inductance and capacitance, therefore choosing different insertion loss would cause the difference in dimension and cost. To impose an inappropriately high requirement on the insertion loss would then increase the cost or add to the dimension. 4. There are two types of filter insertion losses: common mode insertion loss and differential mode insertion loss, which are generally described in db. It is the major index evaluating the performance of the filters. The data provided by the factory are usually the typical value at Z=50Ω without load. Data from the actual usage would be different from those given by the brochure. 5. The user could choose from our existing filters we supply according to the reserved room in the whole equipment, rated voltage, rated current, insertion loss of the frequency points, space between mount location holes. 6. The user could choose power filters marked with higher current and higher voltage, which could substitute filters of lower current and lower voltage. For instance, power filters marked with 50VDC, 10A could apply to the electronic facilities with a below 50VDC voltage and a less than 10A current. 7. The diameter of the welding hole in the printed circuit board of power filters should be a little bigger than that of the pins. The welding temperature should not exceed 250°C and the welding time be no more than 5 seconds.
