Nondestructive measuring device for the case depth

This "HARD ECHO" is developed to measure the case-hardened layer by the ultrasonic scattering echo. The suitable selection of probe,holder and measuring conditions enables to distinguish the boundary of the case-hardened layer and the base metal. An ultrasonic pulse irradiated upon a workpiece whose case depth is to be measured is backscattered from the boundary between such two layers as an echo .By measuring the time from the injection of pulse to the return of the echo,the case-hardened depth is calculated and displayed on a CRT screen. Applications The "HARD ECHO"can be applied foe the various case-hardened components by high frequency induction heating such as automotive parts,construction machinery,machining tools,internal combustion engine and various industrial machinery.
