The space between the two panes is filled with dehydrated air or other gases, such as argon, which slows the heat exchange and also reduces noise levels.The aluminum spacer is filled with silica desiccant pellets to ensure removal ofany moisture in the middle space.Optimizing Energy Efficiency:The use of LOW-E in IGU's further reduces heat transfer; it keeps thermal radiation heat from leaving interiors while preventing infrared heat from the sun from entering.To both reduce heat transfer and increase solar control, it is ideal to have an interior low-e pane and exterior tinted or reflective pane. For maximum performance, the use of Argon gas in the middle space is recommended.
