PDC Drill Bit was specifically designed for horizontal directional drilling and mico tunnelling operations. The manufacturing process permits flexibility in bit design and size. Features include shortened diamond gauge for improved steerability, cutter arrangement optimised for varying formations and choice of 8 mm or 13 mm PDC cutters. PDC bits are manufactured with a tungsten carbide crown imparting a much superior wear resistance than equivalent steel headed bits. The PDC cutters are mounted on the bit face and gauge area which assists in reducing gauge wear in abrazive formations. These drill bits are used in soft to medium formations typically shales, sands, soft limestones and some dolomites with medium to low compressive strengths.
