Camptothecin

Camptothecin is an alkaloid derived from the Chinese tree Camptotheca Acuminata Decne. In some clinical circles it is believed that camptothecin analogs have exhibited remarkable anti-tumour and anti-leukaemia activity. At present, some camptothecin analogs, either semi-synthetic or synthetic drugs based on camptothecin, have been applied in cancer therapy, i.e. topotecan and irinotecan. Others analogs have been obtained that exhibit curative effects in clinical practice.
