Andalusite Refractory bricks

Andalusite containing refractory in anode baking furnaces. Commonly, high quanlity firebricks and andalusite bricks are used for lining the anode baking furnaces, the andalusite bricks are clearly superior because the chemical and mineralogical constitution of the andalusite bricks confers greater resistance to potentially harmful components such as Na2O, which is the main contributor to refractory wear. Being denser, the andalusite brick does have better spalling resistance whilst inhibiting the ingress of alkaline reactants, The creep resistance is also improved because of a lower liquid level within the brick structure at all temperatures thoughout the baking cycle range.
