In the continuous casting process, melted iron poured into a mold passes through a continuous molding machine where it is cooled and congealed. This process produces half-finished products such as slab, bloom and billet. These half-finished products are used in the production of hot-rolled, cold-rolled, thick-plate, and pig-iron products. POSCO E&C has participated in a project to commercialize strip casting technology, a next-generation innovative technology for producing hot coils directly from melted iron, and successfully constructed a poStrip demo plant with an annual capacity of 600,000 thousand tons.
