Liquid resistance starter is a new generation starting controller researched and developed to further improve starting performance of medium and large coil-winding asynchronous motor. By connecting a liquid resistance in rotor loop of motor controlled, which automatically runs upon starting of the motor, and disconnects automatically, steplessly and continuously as scheduled, the following deficiency was overcome: impulse current of obsolete starting controllers such as frequency sensitive rheostat, oil immersing rheostat and cast iron rheostat is strong, and starting process is not desirable. In this case, motor starts under ideal starting current and speed up evenly. The starting controller has significant advantages in protection of motors, electrical devices, power grid and conservation of energy. The controller’s design is elaborate in terms of starting, stopping, protecting against failure, communicating, alarming and displayer. In comparison with obsolete starters, it boast itself of such characteristics, as high level of automation, less starting current (usually being less than 1.3 times of rated current), less electrical and mechanical shock, and it is especially suitable for starting under heavy load. Even in the event that power grid voltage is low, it can start successfully. It reduces capacity of transformer. At present it is a most desirable starting controller for ball mill, hoister, crusher, compressor, fan and water pump under heavy load.
