Thewater,whichactsasaplasticiser,willthenreduceitstensilestrength,butincreaseitselongationandtearstrength.PVAisfullydegradableandisaquickdissolver.PVAhas ameltingpointof230°Cand180-190 C for the fully hydrolysed and partially hydrolysed grades, respectively. It decomposes rapidly but exhibits crystallinity as the hydroxyl groups aresmallenoughtofitintothelatticewithoutdisruptingit.
