HBM CPD-I lightning shield is a kind of lightning eliminator which can keep on neutralizing the electric charge of the downstream of the thundercloud. The direct flash is greatly reduced, so, the corresponding induction is also reduced frequently. By making the electric-field strength lower than the breakdown field strength of the air, it can avoid the lightning within the area where to be protected in most case. It has strong ability of neutralizing the electric charge of the downstream of the thundercloud, and the large current switcher can also have strong ability of diverting the lightning current. if the charge can not be neutralized entirely , the remaining charge can divert into the earththrough the device, but the current is greatly decreased. With the guide of the downstream approaching the lightning shield, because of electrostatic induction, there is a lot of charges of different polarity occurred between the top and bottom of the metal electrode and also between the upper electrode and the bottom electrode of the large current switcher ,once the voltage apply on the switcher is higher than the initial voltage, it will switch on and there will be amount of electrostatic charge transfer to the metal ball of the device to insure the neutralization capability. At the moment that the neutralization occur between the downstream and the upstream, the switcher switch off, another round begin to prepair for the next neutralization. This process keep on doing and suppressing the evolution of the lightning.
