It’s popular used for friction parts, because of its low cost and certain high-temperature resistance . However, Asbestos has been confirmed that it's a carcinogen by the medical profession,and nowdays it's forbidden. Semi metallic formular Looking from its appearance, it has thin fibers and particles, and can be easily distinguished between Asbestos type and NAO-based. Compared with traditional brake materials, it mainly use metal material to increase brake pad intensity. Meanwhile, the temperature control and cooling capability are also better than traditional materials. However, because of more metal components inside mixture, particularly in low-temperature environment,it causes the wear of brake disc surface because of excessive brake pressure,and it brings noise. Low metallic formular From the appearance, it seems a little similar for low-metallic and semi-metallic formular, having thin fibers and particles.However,metal content is most different,which is lower than semi-metallic,and it solves the wear of brake disc and reduces the noise, but life span is shorter than the semi- metal. NAO (non-asbestos organic) formular It’s developed as substitute materials of asbestos. It has the advantage of no dust pollution, small wearness, low noise, and the service life is apparently prolonged .Compared with Asbestos formular, the performance is better, especially non-polluting, but the high cost. Ceramic formular Ceramic brake pads used new ceramic materials,which is small density, high-temperature resistance, wearable, and has the advantage of no noise, no dust, non-corrosive to wheels, long service life, and enviromental protection. At present,it’s prevailing in North America and Japan market. The heat-fading resistance is better than semi-metallic brake pads, and the most importantance is that it increases the average service life of brake pads and No pollution.
