It has good formability and weldability and retains excellent tensile strength in the weld zone by virtue of its as-rolled properties. It is used most often in structures requiring high weld efficiency and maximum weld strength. 5083 also has excellent resistance to corrosion.5083's hardening is accomplished by means of cold working only.5083's weldability of this alloy is very good by conventional means. When filler rod is required it should be the same alloy, 5083.5083's forming characteristics are good for either hot or cold working.5083 is suited to high strength welded applications with outstanding joint strength – rail wagons, marine components, bridges, stationary cryogenic vessels and overhead cranes. Excellent weldability and corrosion resistance. Static welded strength is second only to 5754 and 5083 is superior to 5754 in energy absorption. Restricted to temperatures below 150oF = 65.5oC.5083 is commonly used in the manufacture of unfired, welded pressure vessels, marine, auto aircraft cryogenics, drilling rigs, TV towers, transportation equipment, dump truck boxes, storage tanks, and cryogenic vessels and in missile components.Sth more about ALUMINUM and the ALUMINUM ALLOY : light in weight, commercially pure aluminum has a tensile strength of about 13,000 psi. Cold working the metal approximately doubles its strength. In orer to increase strength, aluminum is alloyed with elements such as manganese, silicon, copper, magnesium, or zinc. The alloys can also be strengthened by cold working. Some alloys are further strengthened and hardened by heat treatments. At subzero tem, aluminum is stronger than at room tem and is no less ductile. Most aluminum alloys lose strength at elevated temperatures, although some retain significant strength to 500°F. Besides a high strength-to-weight ratio and good formability, aluminum also possesses its own anticorrosion mechanism. When exposed to air, aluminum does not oxidize progressively because a hard, microscopic oxide coating forms on the surface and seals the metal from the environment. The tight chemical oxide bond is the reason that aluminum is not found in nature; it exists only as a compound. Our moulds cover nearly all the specifications the customers need, base on the absolutely qualified mechanical properties. Pls just call me directly or chat online for more detail!
