About Y84 conventional coring tool: The Y84 coring tool is a kind of heavy duty conventional coring tool which is specially designed for taking the core (100mm) in 8-1/2” to 12-1/4” hole in hard and consolidated formations. Specifications of the Y84 coring system are listed below: 1.OD the outer core barrel is 172mm. 2.OD of outer barrel centralizer is 213mm. 3.OD of core bit is 215.9mm. 4.Length of the core tool with spiral stabilizer is 10.30m which can be used to recover 9.50-meter-long cores in a single run. Also three coring tools can be assembled together as one coring system to achieve taking over 27-meter-long cores in a single coring run. 5.The axial clearance between the outer and inner core barrels is easy to be adjusted. 6.The top connection type of the core barrel is NC50. The Y84 coring tool is shown in the right diagram. With the specially designed PDC core bit, TSP (Thermal Stability Polycrystalline) core bit and natural diamond core bit, theY84 coring tool is available for coring in medium hard to very hard formation in deep wells. Main structural features and advantages of Y84 coring tool: 1.The outer barrel is made of seamless thick-wall steel tube with high strength. The outer barrel, machined with multi-stabilizers, makes itself own extra high strength and stability. The outstanding features are beneficial to enhancing recovery and prolonging the life of diamond coring bit. 2.Besides the steel inner barrel, fiberglass inner barrel can also be offered, which has light weight, high resistance to heat and corrosion, high strength and smooth inside wall which contributes to a small drag force when allowing cores to enter the inner barrel easily. These features are very helpful for improving core recovery in loose and fractured formations. 3.The lengths of each joint of inner and outer barrel sections are identical. Operators can assemble a core barrel string with different lengths at will. 4.The core barrel stabilizer is finished with spiral ribs, which are hardfaced by hard tungsten carbide. The stabilizer is at last glazed and does not contain pores on the surface, which is helpful in reducing torque and improving wear resistance. 5.In case the tool is stuck, the safety joint allows the inner barrel and core in it to be pulled out of the hole while leaving the outer barrel in the hole. Fishing the outer barrel out of the hole becomes easy. 6.Complete set of ancillary tools is provided to simplify coring procedures, saving a lot of preparation time. This will result in significant economic efficiency, especially when used in regions with high drilling cost (e.g. offshore drilling).
