NdFeB magnet is the rare-earth permanent magnet material offering the highest energy density currently available. It has not only the high qualities but also the advantage of being easily processed and a relatively high performance/cost ratio. In comparison with conventional magnet materials, such as ALNICO or hard ferrite magnet material, NdFeB magnet exhibit a number of excellent magnetic properties. For example, the energy density of NdFeB magnet is about ten fold those of ALNICO and hard ferrite, The theoretical energy product of NdFeB magnet is 64 MGOe. The excellent magnetic properties of this material group can be attributed to the strongly magnetic matrlx phase Nd2Fe14B(tetragonal structure) featuring very high saturation magnetization Bs(Bs=16KGs) and high magnetic anisotropy field HA(HA=73Koe). At present, the highest energy product of 54 MGOe has been obtained in laboratory. The commercial sintered NdFeB magnet with energy product of 38 MGOe is widely used up to date.
