Sodium Chlorate Sodium Chlorate is an achromatous or white crystalline material with its density: 2.490, melting point: 255. It tastes salty and cool, and it is very soluble in ethanol, liquid ammonia and glycerin. At the temperature of above 300 Centi-degree, it can liberate oxygen very easily. The power of oxidating is very low in neutral or alkalescent solution. But it is a strong oxidizer in acidic solution or containing revulsive oxidant and activator(such as Ammonium Sulphate, Copper Sulphate, Potassium Hexacyanoferrate(II) Trihydrate and so on). Mixing with acids (vitriol), it may produce chlorine dioxide. It has strong oxidating power. When mixing with sulfur, phosphorus and organic materials or striking, it may cause burning and explosion. It is deliquescence. It absorbs vapor and changes into solution in atmosphere with high humidity. Sodium Chlorate is used for paper pulp bleaching, chlorite and chlorate, medicine producing, fireworks and crackers producing, printing and dyeing, metalworking, uranium ore processing, also could be used as a herbicide, oxidizing agent.
