English name: Activated Zinc Oxide Molecular Formula: ZnO Molecular Weight:81.37 Item Index The first Class Qualified class Zinc oxide %≥ 95 to 98 95 to 98 Water %≤ 0.7 0.7 Water soluble matters %≤ 0.5 0.5 Losses on ignition 1 to 4 1 to 4 Insolubles in Hcl solution %≤ 0.02 0.05 Lead oxide %≤ 0.01 0.05 Manganese oxide %≤ 0.001 0.003 Copper oxide %≤ 0.001 0.003 Screen residues thru (45um) mesh %≤ 0.1 0.4 Surface area sqm/g ≤ 45 35 Accumulation density ml/g ≤ 0.35 0.45 Properties: white hexagonal crystalline or powder, odorless, nontoxic, fine and smooth. Relative density is 5.606. melting point: 1975 degree. Soluble in acid sodium hydroxide and ammonium chloride; insoluble in water, ethanol and ammonia; and it is amphoteric oxide. It can absorb carbon trioxide and water in the air to produce zinc carbonate in yellow color. While heated, it becomes yellow and resumes white after cooling down. It is ultraviolet radiation resistant, and will not become black meeting with sulfureted hydrogen; and easily disperse in rubber or latex. Uses: Zinc oxide used in rubber or cables; can make rubber be better in corrosion resistance, tear resistance and elasticity. And also used asvulcanization activator of natural rubber, coloring agent and filler of white rubber, vulcanizing agent of chloroprene rubber. Those of fine particles (particle size around 0.1um) can be used as light stabilizing agent of plastics including polyolefins or chloroethylene, etc.
