The wall thickness of round molds is at least 5mm and the thickness of sheet and strip molds is at least 10mm so as to prolong the service life of graphite molds and ensure their mechanical strength. During casting, the humidity of graphite molds can form steam to increase tension, thus affecting the whole system, including hot metals, graphite molds and metal chillers. As suggested, before the casting, the graphite molds should be heated for 12 hours at 450°C or heated for 24 hours at 390°C for better usage.
