Ferro Silicon Nitride is an alloy additive in smelting of cold-rolling orientated silicon steel. Its addition increases the steel strength at ambient and low temperature, and improves corrosion-resistance, thermal shock resistance and abrasion resistance of steels. Ferro Silicon Nitride is also used in alumina and silicon carbide based refractories, such as Taphole mixes for Blast Furnaces. Ferro Silicon Nitride enhances corrosion and thermal shock resistance as well as increases erosion resistance against liquid iron, enlarging the holding time of the blast furnace.
