Function A coil car will be provided to transport coils between the coil loading saddles and the de-band position and then load them on the payoff reel mandrel via the coil diameter and width measurement positions. Feature The coil car is of welded steel construction and of a low profile above floor design. The lift cradle is attached to the car chassis through a set of heavy duty, steel plate, scissors action links and has a V cradle platform for supporting the coil. The cradle axis is parallel to direction of coil car travel. The coil car chassis is mounted on four wheels. Wheels on one side are flanged and flat on the other. The "V" cradle surface of the coil car is covered with polyurethane pads to protect the outside diameter of the coils from damage during loading and/or unloading. A banding slot is included. Traverse power will be by a hydraulic motor and gear reducer to the wheels. Two wheels are driven. A power chain is furnished to carry the electric cables to the car. The car position is measured using an encoder on the car, which is turned by a spring-loaded wheel running on the rails. This information enables the car to be positioned automatically. Cradle raise is measured via an encoder driven by a chain and sprockets. Cable support One power chainLubrication Grease via distribution blocks
