BLUEFOS Cooling Water Treatment Agent 1. Features of Bluefos: It is a semi transparent ball in blue color,the outside appearance is typically possessed for granulated polyphosphate. Bluefos was developed by Beijing Jiulini Water Treatment Co. on basis of Chinese patented process, which is contributed to prevent corrosion, scaling and bacteria proliferation. These problems are typically occurred in process of cooling water recirculation. 2. Properties: 2.1. Compositions. Main components are metallic polyphosphates; 2.2. Appearance. Blue sphere of diameter 18-20 mm; 2.3. Solubility. Slowly dissolves in water; 2.4. Characteristics. As an ordinary polyphosphates it has properties to prevent scale and corrosion, in the same time the component of cupper is prominent algaecide and biocide; zinc ion is a anticorrosion agent and at same plays as a powerful synergetic element to copper to control bacteria propagation. It is worth to indicate, that the biocide property of Bluefos is excellent. The experiment carried out by Beijing municipal CDC institute showed the Bluefos bacteria elimination factor is 87%, and in comparing, the isothiazoline or benzyl ammonium chloride, in general used for cooling tower operation, the average factor can be reached to 70-75%. Taking to these effects together leads the Bluefos as an effective, easy operative, cost saving and environmental acceptive cooling water idea treatment agent. 3. Application Can be used for water systems facing difficulties of corrosion, scaling and block due to biomasses. The typical and effective region is for cooling tower, where recirculation cooling water is very easy to settle out precipitate to clog pipeline and cooling towers packing, thus to lead system operating in a abnormal condition, Bluefos is not recommended for tap water treatment. 4. Dosing equipment. The Bluefos is used as many granulated polyphosphates. The reagent should loaded in a container of predetermined size, the water flows the container will dissolve the phosphates to the down streams. It is recommended to install the container on the line of makeup water of the cooling tower. It had also practiced when to install a container may considered as too cumbersome or too costly, then the Bluefos can simply applied putting into a screen type plastic box and hanging it into the water flow, making sure the box is always submerged under the level of water. The location of box should be maintained at place where water flush and makeup water existed. 5. Dosing rate in recirculation water. 5.1. Assume. The cooling tower water concentration factor C is 5. 5.2.Taking the cool throughput for a refrigerator system of 100 RT(refrigeration-ton)/hr. (app. 350,000 kcal/hr) as basis. 5.3. Calculation. Circulating water rate R=80 M3/hr, Evaporation loss E=0.8M3/hr, Wind loss W=0.08M3/hr. So the operation water blow down B is B = (E-W) / (C-1) =0.72 / 4 =0.18 M3/hr H (total water consumption) = B+E+W= 0.18+0.8+0.08= 1.04M3/hr or 20.8M3/d. 5.4. It is required the amount of Bluefos in circulation water to be kept above 10 ppm (10gram/ton water), so the amount in make up water should be not less 2 ppm. For 100 RT, total daily consumption of Bluefos will be 20.8 x 2 gm/d = 40 gm/day. Consider 3 month per time to refill the container so the Bluefos required is 3.6 Kg, in general 50-100% in excess should be taken for avoiding empty of the container. So the actual loading may 5-8 kg. The refrigeration systems of other size can be calculated similarly. 6. Personal protection Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. Using gloves and glasses for protection. In case of irritant flushing with plenty of fresh water. 7. Packaging and Transportation: 25 Kg of carton box. No specific requirement for transportation. 8.
