Relative suitability of the trip characteristic and environmental temperature change: The viscosity of the hydraulic oil inside the trip mechanic is affected by changes in temperature. The lower the temperature the higher the viscosity, causing a longer delay, and thereby allowing sufficient additional time for use with cooling equipment. In higher temperatures, the viscosity is lower, shortening the delay time and creating a fast trip time, protecting the circuit from overloading when it gets too hot. This type of oppositional reaction makes the trip characteristic relatively suitable to its external environment.
