Air Entrainers Product DescriptionAE is an ultra stable air-entraining admixture for use in all types of concrete. AE is particularly recommended for use in concrete in which it has previously been difficult to maintain the desired air content. AE is supplied as a ready-to-use aqueous solution, free of added chloride. Recommended For low slump concreteflowable concretehigh temperature concreteconcrete with extended working timeslight-weight and pre-stressed concreteimparting workability to lean harsh mixesreducing bleeding caused by grading deficiencies in the concrete materialsimprove the cohesiveness and compressivestrength of concrete blocks and bricks.Product Advantage The use of AE to entrain optimum air content in concrete results in the following improvements in concrete quality:improved plasticity and workabilityreduced segregation and bleedingreduced permeability increased water tightnessincreased durabilityincreased resistance to freeze/thaw cyclesimproved ability to entrain and retain air in concreteimproved stabilityimproved air-void system in hardened concreteCompatibilityAE is compatible for use in concrete containing other admixtures such as high range water reducers, accelerators, retarders, densifiers and water repellents. However, combinations of admixtures may have a synergistic effect effectively increasing air entrainment and therefore, should always be tested in concrete before use. When two or more admixtures are used, they must be added to the mix separately (through dispensers or by hand) and must not be mixed with each other prior to adding to the concrete mix. Addition RatesAE is normally used at 40-400mls/100kg cementitious material. AE is normally used at 10-100mls/100kgcementitious material. There is no standard dosage rate for AE. The exact amount of air entraining admixture needed for a given air content of concrete varies because of differences in concrete making materials. The amount of AE to use will depend upon the amount of air required under actual job conditions and therefore, should be determined by trial mixes before commencing production. In mixes containing water reducing or other admixtures, the amount of AE needed may be somewhat less than the amount required in plain mixes. In fly ash mixes, the amount of AE needed can be more than double that required in cement only mixes.
