In the converter steel-making processing, a lot of steel-slag in melting state is produced. Traditional slag-stopping technology uses the slag-stopping balls to control molten steel in tapping holes. Because the balls go adrift to the steel-tapping hole, meanwhile, as the slag is very viscous, slag-stopping ball can’t reach the hole. Or it can’t blank off the steel-tapping hole effectively while the liquid steel drains away.The efficiency of the slag-stopping ball is less than 70%. Using the slag-stopping plug in tapping process, its efficiency can be improved 96%, with slag thickness <=40mm. This new technology can significantly improve steel quality by reducing P and S, save energy by cutting down heat loss of steel fluid, and ameliorate operational safety as well.
