The requirements of the Parking Guidance System (hereinafter termed “System”) are as below: System Overview The Car Park Guidance System is a real-time system that will: a) Allow efficient usage of the car park by shortening the time taken to find a parking lot. b) Allow a motorist to make informed decision at critical junctions. c) Increase usage of the car park by allowing vehicles to enter when there is a free lot rather then wait until a vehicle leaves the car park exit. d) Monitor the vehicles entering the car park to ensure that every vehicle that enters has a space to park. e) Include a main display that will be placed at each entrance. This display provides an overview of the lots available at each level/zone. This also serves to indicate the number of vehicles that will be allowed in. f) Within the car park, there shall be displays showing the number of available lots located at strategic positions to show the lots available in a particular area or zone. Motorists do not need to waste time driving around the entire car park aimlessly searching for available parking lots. g) The car park guidance system besides providing available lots to the motorists can also interface to the car access system to fully optimize the occupancy rates of the car park lots and increase the turnover of the car park.
