XD ceramic balls with openings are a new product based on inert alumina ceramic balls developed by Xunda Fine Chemical Research Institute. The hole is opened through the axis of the ball diameter. Thus ceramic ball not only has a certain mechanical strength, chemical stability and thermal stability, but also has larger specific area and void ratio, resulting in the increase of the dispersion and throughput of the feedstock and the decrease of system resistance. The ceramic balls with openings can be widely used in petrochemical, chemical and natural gas industries, replacing inert alumina ceramic balls as the covering and supporting packing for catalysts. XD Inert alumina ceramic balls are widely used as the packing for covering and supporting in various reactors and fractionators in petrochemical, coal chemical, fine chemical and natural gas plants. This product has good performances, with some indexes exceeding foreign products. XD porous ceramic balls are also called as filtering balls. Xunda Fine Chemical Research Institute, on the basis of inert alumina ceramic balls, develops this product. It has the same bulk void ratio as the inert ceramic ball, playing a role of covering and supporting catalyst and separating gas and liquid. Meanwhile, 20-30% of adsorptive structure voids are increased in this product, which enables it to filter the impurities in oil products. Since there are impurities in oil products in the states of granule, collagen, asphaltine and heavy metal, a part of which can be filtered off when passing through the filter, yet a large amount of them (e.g., granular impurities with their diameters <25um and iron ion) can't be filtered off. If porous ceramic balls are packed at the reactor top, these impurities can be adsorbed in them. Thus, the catalysts are protected to ensure long operation of the plant.
