Stable after 7 d at 20000 lux. Slowly decomposed in alkaline solution (22). Stable in acids, forming water-soluble salts. Toxicity: Acute oral LD50 for rats 6400, dogs >2500 mg/kg. Acute percutaneous LD50 for rabbits > 10000, rats > 2000 mg/kg. Non-irritating to skin and eyes (rabbits). Not a skin sensitiser (guinea pigs.) LC50 (4 h) for rats, no effect with suspension (10 g/L water). Ecotoxicology: Acuteoral LD50 for quial 5826-15595 mg/kg. LC50 (96 h) for carp 0.61, rainbow trout 0.93, bluegill sunfish > 17.25, guppies > 8 mg/L. Daphnia LC50 (48 h) 0.13-0.22 mg/L. Bees LD50 (contact) > 50 μg/bee. Worms LC50 (4 w) for Eisenia foetida 6 mg/kg soil. Environmental fate: In male rats, following a single oral administration of 3 mg/kg, 66% was eliminated in urine within 6 h. Readily absorbed by plants. One defradation product is 2-aminobenzimidezole. In soil, 2-aminobenzimidazole has been found as a minor metabolite. Mode of action: Systemic fungicide with protective and curative action. Usage: Control of Septoria, Fusarium, Ersiphe and Pseudocercosporella in cereals; Sclerotinia, Alternaria and Cylindrosporium in oilseed rape; Cercospora and Erysiphe in sugar beet; Uncinula and Botrytis in grapes; Cladosporium and Botrytis in tomatoes; Venturia and Podosphaerd in pome fruit and Monilia and Slerotinia in stone fruit.
