High-side Service Port Cap 1. Locate the air conditioners low-side service port.(see service manual) DO NOT use the high-side service port. 2. Remove and recover any residual R-12 using proper recycling equipment. It is illegal to vent R-12 into the atmosphere. 3. Open the air conditioner and make any necessary repairs. Remove the mineral oil. (It is not harmful to have some residual mineral oil). 4. Remove and replace the filter/dryer. Replace with a unit containing XH-7 or XH-9 desiccant material. 5. Replace the old mineral oil with either PAG or Ester oil. (See service manual for proper amount). 6. Clean the external threads of the A/Cs low and high-side service ports with solvent and a wire brush. This is required for the thread-locking adhesive on the adapter fittings to work. 7. Screw the high-side retrofit valve onto the A/Cs high-side service port. This kit is equipped with a 3/8 high-side retrofit valve. A few, older vehicles require a different size (7/16) valve. If the high side adapter valve does not fit, youll need the larger thread size high-side (A/C PRO part #VA-7H). 8. Evacuate the system at 29 of vacuum (30 minutes for single A/C units and 45 minutes for dual A/C units). 9.Start engine and turn air conditioner to maximum cool. Add R-134a by using standard R-134a recharge equipment. Check owners manual or plate on the A/C for refrigerant capacity. Do not rill over 85% of the recommended capacity. 10.Complete the retrofit label and place it on an accessible surface to conform to EPA regulations
